CTT GROUP: THE COMP-501 PROJECT RECEIVES AN EXCELLENCE AWARD
SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC, CA, MAY 5, 2016 – The COMP-501 receives an Excellency Award
 
On April 27, 2016, the research project COMP-501 “Textile Carbon Fibre Preforms” received the Excellency Award at the 8th CRIAQ Research Forum in Montreal. CTT Group and its partner in 3D structures Texonic were actively involved in this 3 years project.
    
The project was led by Bombardier Aerospace and the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and regrouped some of the most important aerospace companies of Canada like Bell Helicopter Textron Canada, Hutchinson and Delastek. COMP-501’s aim was to analyse and evaluate the manufacturing of 3D textile preforms by stitching and reinforced by tufting in order to simplify and accelerate the manufacturing of complex shape composite parts. This project is one the keys to create the aircraft parts of tomorrow: lighter, cheaper and more efficient.
    
Its success was greatly due to CTT Group’s equipment and leading expertise unique in Canada that made technically possible the creation of the assembly jigs and the production and manufacturing of the preforms.
With this prize, the Quebec scientific community acknowledges the skills and expertise of CTT Group along with the dedicated work of all COMP-501 team members.
